Simulation is a quick and easy way to start flying with PX4 when you haven’t yet got a vehicle to experiment with. It allows PX4 flight code to control a computer modeled vehicle in a simulated virtual world. Simulators are used extensively as a developer tool from the most basic to the most advanced systems.
