The SP1, designed by Skypull SA, is a VTOL “Tailsitter” drone that aims to produce clean energy using Airborne Wind Energy (AWE) to take advantage of wind power at high efficiency reducing costs.
The drone has a patented “box wing” design and each wing is made of a multi-element airfoil maximizing lift and minimizing drag for best flying efficiency.
The PX4 powered and fully autonomous 1.3m wingspan drone is capable of producing 1.2kWh with winds of 10m/s.
Skypull solution aims to reach increasingly bigger and more efficient prototypes to address climate change problems, accelerating the transition to cleaner and renewable energies.
The Tethered Flight can be checked on this video.
Your video looks very cool.
How is the constraint imposed by the connected tether handled by the PX4 flight controller? Which mode are you flying the drone in? And what is the selected airframe?
